Fabricating Stone DVDs - All 3 DVDs in One Set

Are you looking for the greatest instructional DVD package available? Well look no further! The best DVD’s for the do-it-yourselfer are now available together: Volume 1: Profiling & Polishing, Volume 2: The Undermount Sink from Start to Finish, and Volume 3: Glues & Sealers. This package includes the three DVD's that will help you make a beautiful work of stone that will last a lifetime. We also offer all the tools you will need to complete this project in our online catalog at the same prices we sell to our construction accounts.

Volume 1: Profiling & Polishing

Don’t know where to begin? The first DVD in our series of acclaimed "how to" videos will set you on the right path. This video teaches the layperson how to fabricate a piece of stone. It demonstrates which tools you will need (and how to use them) when fabricating your granite slab. When we say fabrication, we mean to change the edge of the slab from square to a contour you want, then polishing that newly ground edge so it shines. You won’t find condensed, incomplete instruction, but rather a complete project, start to finish, showing how almost anyone can make a beautiful edge on their stone in very little time and with the help of the right tools.

In the DVD, we start with a piece of 2 cm thick granite which is 5' long and a little over 2' wide. The first thing we show you is how to cut that slab using a poor mans rail saw. We then laminate a couple of the edges to give the stone the appearance of being twice as thick as it really is.

We proceed to fabricate the front & side edge into a 45 degree beveled edge. The new shape is cut into the front and side edges of the new bathroom counter. We then polish the newly ground edge so it matches the finish on the face of the highly polished slab. Because the other two sides will be against the wall with back-splashes installed above them, there is no need to polish them. We show the polishing process in faithful detail. Admittedly, this part of the DVD is slightly boring, but we wanted to impress upon you that polishing is a slow process. To cap off the episode, we show you how to rod the slab for strength so it won't break during transportation or installation (This is very important!).

Of course, we want to let you know that the edge design used on this piece is a 45 degree bevel because it is the easiest type of edge to create (as it is all on one plane). All the techniques in this video can be adapted for use on other shapes. There is a multitude of shapes you can create and we sell the tools to make them all! Some examples include: demibullnose (radius or 1/4 turn), full bullnose (half turn), an ogee profile (does a little dipsy doodle), or any other profile you want. There are lots of shapes to choose from, and we have listed the 4 most popular ones here. We encourage you to explore the other edges available as their is a style for everyone. With this DVD we will help you make a beautiful masterpiece at a fraction of the cost for a professional to do it. When you’re done, you’ll have a customized masterpiece that will last forever.

Volume 2: Undermount Sink

In this second video we take the slab that we put the contoured and polished edge on and show the start to finish process for fabricating it to accomodate an oval undermount sink. We also show the process for fabricating a rectangular undermount sink with rounded corners. This video teaches the layperson how to fabricate and polish the sinkhole, how to drill the spigot holes, how to mount and support the undermount sink and finally how to install the counter and backsplashes to a cabinet.

The sink we used for this video is the ceramic type sink which is actually adhered to the granite countertop. It is not the installation of the stainless undermount sink, which is far easier. This is NOT a 6 hour video compressed down to 32 minutes, but rather a 50 minute video which shows the completion of the counter project. This instructional DVD teaches almost anyone to fabricate an undermount sinkhole and to install a beautiful stone counter in very little time.

Back to the video, we took a piece of 2 cm thick granite which is 5' long and a little over 2' deep. We already had a 45 degree bevelled edge that was polished (courtesy of the first video) and a laminated front edge. We then proceed to cut and polish the sinkhole, drill the spigot holes, install the counter with backsplashes and mount the undermount sink with support brackets.

Volume 3: Glues & Sealers

The third in a series of acclaimed "how to" DVDs, this video covers many aspects of fabrication and care for your granite.  You will learn how to make straight cuts on slabs using a Skilsaw and how to laminate the edge of a slab to double thickness.  You will also see what it takes to glue seams professionally and repair structural & nonstructural chips and cracks. Finally we will show you how to enhance the polish of your stone and how to seal your stone to protect the polish and stain-proof it!

This DVD is 101 minutes of education! We take the 2 major types of stone glues, epoxy and polyester resin, then show you how mix and color them.  Applying your adhesives to the granite will be a snap after learning from this episode. You get firsthand instruction on repairing granite and fixing problems associated with stone countertops, along with the use and application of two different types of sealers. Volume 3: Glues & Sealers will help you complete the project you started in Volume 1: Profiling & Polishing.  The quality of teaching contained within allows this DVD to be a stand alone work and we know it will be useful to anyone interested in maintaining their granite countertop's life & beauty.

We have to warn you though: after seeing how simple and capable you can become with this DVD set, you may be tempted to leave your residence and take up stone fabrication.  While you are on your way to becoming a "Master Mason" we do not recommend that you sell your house to open a stone fabrication business. There is a lot more to having a successful career in fabricating than this - that's for sure! However, if you have always wanted to learn to work with granite and marble, then this is a must see instructional DVD.  It will allow you to make high quality stone pieces of professional quality that will last forever! The "fabricator" in this video is NOT a professional craftsman or stone worker. This fabricator is Mark DeFusco. "If I can make this beautiful work of stone then so can you."
